Piscataway man pleads guilty to Bridgewater gas station theft

SOMERVILLE A Piscataway man, originally charged with an armed robbery at a Hess service station in Bridgewater, pleaded guilty in Superior Court on Monday to a lesser charge.
In exchange for his guilty plea, Curtis Ford, 26, will be sentenced to five years probation in Drug Court.
Ford pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Paul Armstrong to a third-degree charge of theft and a fourth-degree obstruction of justice charge in connection with Feb. 9 incident at the Hess station on Route 22.
Ford told the court that on that stormy night, he had been binge drinking and had gotten a ride in a taxi.
Ford also said he could not remember the incident until he watched a surveillance video from the store.
Authorities had said that Ford entered the convenience store section of the station at about 2 a.m. and attempted to purchase a gift card, cigarettes and two candy bars,
Because of a software malfunction, the cashier had to reboot the cash register computer. Ford then became impatient and attempted to grab cigarettes from the rear of the counter, authorities said.
The cashier blocked Ford from the cigarette rack and a struggle ensued,Jimmy Graham #80 Jersey, authorities said. While waiting for police,Cheap Orleans Saints Hats, Ford allegedly assaulted the two employees and the customer by biting them, authorities said.
Armstrong told Ford that under drug court terms,Nike Saints Jersey, Ford will have to submit random drug tests and attend three 12-step meetings a week.
If Ford violates the terms of his probation, he may be subject to a 360-day sentence in county jail.
